0.4-0.5 FTE Position to start in late August 2026
We are seeking an experienced, relational, and values-oriented Human Resources Manager to support our staff and leadership team. Reporting to the Superintendent and working collaboratively with school leaders, this person will help strengthen our HR practices and contribute to a healthy, supportive, and well-functioning workplace. This is a new part-time position that will provide practical HR support and thoughtful guidance across a range of employee-related matters.
The ideal candidate will bring an authentic faith in Jesus, sound professional judgement, strong interpersonal skills, and a practical understanding of human resources. They will be able to build trust, handle sensitive matters with discretion, and provide thoughtful guidance in a community-oriented environment. This role is well suited to an HR professional who values meaningful work, enjoys supporting staff, leadership, and systems, and is interested in contributing to the mission of a Christian school community.
Key Responsibilities
This role will include responsibilities related to:
- Supporting the development, review, and consistent implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Providing guidance to school leaders on employee relations, performance management, progressive discipline, and workplace concerns
- Coordinating recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Create employment contracts, help oversee job descriptions, personnel documentation, and staff records
- Management of the human resources information system (HRIS)
- Supporting workplace accommodations and return-to-work planning
- Supporting compliance with applicable employment standards, human rights requirements, and workplace legislation
- Contributing to staff wellness, workplace culture, and employee engagement initiatives
- Supporting HR-related communication and administrative processes
- Assisting with other HR priorities and projects as needed
Salary Range
The full-time equivalent salary range for this position is $75,000–$88,000 per year, dependent on education, qualifications, and experience. This is a 0.4–0.5 FTE position, with the actual salary prorated based on the agreed-upon FTE. The anticipated annual salary range is approximately $30,000–$44,000.

The ideal candidate will:
- Understand, support, and uphold the mission and vision of Vancouver Christian School
- Be a regular participant within a Christian church community and express faith in Jesus
- Have relevant education and professional experience in human resources
- Demonstrate sound judgement, discretion, and a high level of confidentiality
- Bring a positive, relational, and service-oriented approach to supporting staff and leaders
- Communicate clearly and professionally, including when navigating sensitive or complex matters
- Be proactive, organized, and able to manage competing priorities effectively
- Work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Demonstrate knowledge of employment standards and legislation, human rights obligations, workplace accommodations, and other HR best practices
- Be comfortable using technology, including email, Google Workspace, and digital tools that support HR processes and communication
A CPHR designation, or progress toward a CPHR designation, is considered an asset. Experience working in a school, non-profit, or faith-based organization is also considered an asset.
